This is not a portfolio, this is a journal in pictures and prose- A record of the in-between.
I’m Carla — a photographer turned storyteller, turning again. This space is where I gather what I’m making and unmaking: Cinematic photo essays. Short reels. Letters to my future self. Fragments of becoming. Stories of women who mirror pieces of me. I’m not offering sessions. But I am open — to creating something honest, poetic, and real.

Stories stitched from memory. Art born from feeling.
A lens turned inward — And sometimes, toward the Wwomen who mirror something back.

Letters to the Future Me
Here I write to the woman I’m still becoming — from the in-between of no longer and not yet.
Writings of soft truths, quiet reckonings, and tender questions I’m not ready to answer.
Intimate reflections from the middle of becoming.
And sometimes, she writes back — gentle replies from the version of me who’s made it through. -

Postcards from the Field
This is where the smaller stories live — fleeting thoughts, glimpses of process, moments that asked to be seen.
Instagram is where I share what I’m working on, what’s working through me, and what I’ve made to understand both.
Sometimes it’s a photo. Sometimes a reel. Sometimes, just a sentence that won’t leave me alone.
They’re not letters — they’re postcards. Tiny windows into the becoming. -

WORK WITH ME.
If you're feeling drawn to connect, collaborate, or begin something honest together — write from the heart. I love receiving letters. The kind that carry questions, sparks, or soft invitations to create something together.
I love the way they linger, the way they unfold slowly, like a shared breath on paper. If you’re writing with a project in mind, a thought, or just a feeling, I’d love to read it.
Drop your note below and I’ll write you back as soon as I can.

Current Work in Progress
This is my ongoing studio journal — a space where I track the creative threads I’m currently following. It’s part sketchbook, part process diary. Here I share glimpses of unfinished projects, visual experiments, and ideas still taking shape. It’s not about polished outcomes, but the quiet unfolding behind the scenes — the questions I’m living through, the moods I’m chasing, and the pieces I’m slowly stitching together.
I share the inspirations that stir my soul, fuel my photography and creative thinking, stories and ideas. It's a place of connection and reflection, where each entry offers a glimpse into the heart behind my work. You'll find an eclectic mix of what moves me — from the subtle beauty of everyday moments to the profound connections with the incredible people I photograph. It’s an invitation to explore the depth and diversity of human experience through my eyes.

Behind The Lens
Carla Silva
My work is rooted in personal truth — shaped by what I’ve lived, what I’ve lost, and what I’m still learning to hold. These stories begin inside of me. Sometimes they’re told through self-reflection, and sometimes they’re expressed through the women I photograph — as stand-ins, mirrors, or extensions of something I’m working through.
Everything I create — whether a still image, a reel, or a piece of writing — is an attempt to make meaning. To process what it feels like to be a woman in this moment. There’s no offering or service here. Just ongoing creative inquiry, stitched from memory, emotion, and deep attention.
